The ABLE conference on Saturday, October 24th finished successfully, many thanks to our volunteers and presenters who put their time and energy into building up Arizona's premiere conference on open source technology in business. The conference was well-received by attendees despite some obligatory scheduling snafus, and Arizona's diverse community of user groups and associations came together to give many people their first taste of Linux and other open source software.
TEDxPhoenix has some great speakers coming up for us Friday night. Carl Hayden High School teacher Fredi Lajvardi's robotics team won a national robotics championship. Beating a bunch of college teams was amazing. Beating them with a mere $800 budget was certainly innovative. Show up Friday night to find out :). Greg Peterson, Arizona's urban farmer, will be speaking. He has 50 fruit trees (and lots of other stuff) on his normal-sized city property. See TEDxPhoenix' speakers page for info on the other speakers.
Thanks to all of ABLEconf's sponsors!
Thugal, Two Geek Techs, RD Harris, CPA, P.C., LinuxFund and Obnosis all provided cash we used for things like free lunch for attendees, t-shirts, signs, promotional fliers, prizes and other things we needed to buy.
The Women in Technology and Business (WIT) committee has created a great track for ABLEconf Phoenix 2009.
Three of the five tracks being about security and three of the five being strong technical topics shows that there is an abundance of talent being tapped.
